This is more of a scientific approach to brewing coffee – when the water is hot enough, it creates a pressurized environment which siphons water to the top level where coffee is brewed.
Water temperature: 90 – 92°C
Coffee grind size: Medium
Coffee to Water ratio: 1:12
What you will need:
A siphon brewer (Siphon rig, bottom chamber, stand & clamp, top chamber with filter)
A paddle
A heat source
A grinder
A timer
How-to-do:
- Add hot water into the bottom chamber.
- Attach and secure the filter to the top chamber and center.
- Place assembled siphon on heat source and make sure there’s a gap.
- Secure the top chamber into the bottom when the water temperature reaches 90 – 92 °C.
- When most water has risen to the top chamber, place your ground coffee into the top beaker. Stir to ensure all coffee is saturated by water.
- At 50 seconds, remove the heat source from the brewer and stir the coffee again.
- Remove the top chamber when all coffee has returned to bottom.
