Pour-over coffee is very dependent on the skill of the brewers and by their nature introduces many variables to brewed coffee. Everyone has their own coffee ritual and the flow rate of each pour allows brewers to produce coffee that is tailor-made and unique.

The world’s first ‘Macchinetta del caffe’ (a mini coffee machine) was designed by an Italian called Alfonso Bialetti in 1933. Basically, it’s a pressure-driven espresso maker which is designed for use on a stove.

How-to-do:
This is more of a scientific approach to brewing coffee – when the water is hot enough, it creates a pressurized environment which siphons water to the top level where coffee is brewed.

A siphon brewer (Siphon rig, bottom chamber, stand & clamp, top chamber with filter)

How-to-do:
The coffee is brewed with water using a plastic syringe-looking ‘piston’ to extract the brew by pushing it through paper filter.

How-to-do:
Place the Aeropress in the inverted style. Start plunging (gently place pressure down on the plunger) and you’ll see your coffee is fully brewed into you mug.
Know by name – latte art is a form of edible art mixed with frothed milk and espresso. Pouring the steamed milk in your cup of espresso in a way that the foamed milk creates the artwork. Sounds easy? Well, it’s not rocket science. Practice makes perfect!
